In today’s global and fast-developing world, we see that traditional and cultural shifts are had a great pace. In parallel with the world, such shifts have negative impacts on our traditional arts and crafts and cultural values. But lately, great efforts have been done to preserve our traditional arts and crafts and to keep them alive in our country. We are pleased to see examples of such efforts in departments of handicrafts of universities, public education centers of municipalities and private workplaces. As a result, there has been a need for well-informed, well-trained and skilled individuals in this growing and developing area.

Handicrafts program, through necessary education and training, raises such individuals which are well informed about clarifying and certifying sources coming from past to present; preservation, repair and actualization of present cultural accumulation and richness and raises individuals which can offer new suggestions in terms of design.
