Department of Accounting and Taxation

Department of Accounting and Taxation has started to receive its first students in 2002-2003 academic year. Therefore, it is the oldest and most experienced program at Devrek Vocational School. The aim of the program is to train the intermediate staff to be employed especially in the local public and private institutions working in the field of accounting. The curriculum of the program and course contents are updated on a regular basis depending on not only the national accounting and taxation regulations, but also international professional developments.

QUALIFICATION AWARDED 
The graduates of the program are awarded associate degree diploma and the title of accounting staff.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 
There are two options for admission, which is either 
through ÖSYM exam or 
without any exam for students who graduate from related departments of Vocational High Schools

PROGRAM PROFILE 
The program capacity for students is 40. A great majority of the students are graduates of vocational high school. The program includes both theoretical and practice-oriented courses. The program is conducted in the form of formal education.

EMPLOYMENT PROFILES OF GRADUATES 
Graduates can find employment in accounting or finance departments in private sector as well as in public institutions. Depending on their KPSS exam scores, they can get employed as accounting staff in public institutions. They can also work in the banking sector. Additionally, supervision firms and financial adviser firms can recruit the graduates of our department.

EXAMINATION REGULATIONS, ASSESSMENT AND GRADING
For every course, there is one mid-term, one final and one resit exam.In some of the courses, there are additional projects. Mid-term exam has 40% proportion in the final grade of students whereas final exam has 60%. The students are supposed to attend 70% of the classes.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to graduate from the program, the students need to attend the classes and pass all of the registered courses succesfully. Additionally, they need to complete their 30-day practicum and be successful at their practicum exam. At the end of the 4th semester, they need to be successful at 120 ECTS credit courses and at practicum.
