CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY

The program of Chemistry Technology started its academic life in Bülent Ecevit University, Devrek Vocational School in 2006-2007 academic year. The education and training activities of the program are performed at the campus of Devrek Vocational School. The aim of the program is to raise qualified technicians for chemistry sector. Moreover, to prepare students for today’s working conditions is another important aim of the program. Syllabus and course contents of the program are updated according to the needs of the industry.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  2. The students graduated from chemistry departments of vocational high schools have the chance of open admission.

 

PROGRAM PROFILE

The program capacity for students is 40. A great majority of the students are graduates of chemistry department of vocational high schools. The program includes both theoretical and practice-oriented courses to be delivered at Devrek Vocational School. The program is conducted in the form of formal education.

EMPLOYMET PROFILES OF GRADUATES

The graduates of the program are employed both public and private sector. Provided that the graduates take at least 70 from Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), they can be employed relevant areas of the public sector. They can also be employed as engagement manager in private sector. If the graduates work in small chemistry enterprises which have a machine power under 60 HP, they can have signing authority as “engagement manager”. When they work for big chemistry enterprises which have a machine power over 60 HP, they have signing authority only within the enterprise. Moreover, graduates can be employed in chemical processing industries, refineries, petrochemical industries, drug sector; analysis, quality control, research and development laboratories of all processing industries.  

ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDIES

Graduates of the program can apply to the department of food engineering through DGS exam. Those who are accepted to the department of food engineering are given orientation courses in their first academic year. Students who pass the exams of orientation courses are eligible for taking courses directly from the 3rd grade of the department.

 

TESTING AND EVALUATION

For every course, there is one mid-term, one final and one resit exam. In some of the courses, there are additional projects. The exams of theoretical and practice-oriented courses are done in a written format. Those students who pass the practice exam successfully are eligible for taking the final exam at the end of the year. Those who fail the exam cannot take the final exam at the end of the year but have to take the same course again next year. Mid-term exam has 40% proportion in the final grade of students whereas final exam has 60%.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

In order to graduate from the program, the students need to attend the classes and pass all of the registered courses successfully. Additionally, they need to complete their 30-day practicum and be successful in their practicum exam. They can complete the program provided they have 120 ECTS credits at the end of the 4th semester and are successful in the practicum.
